Vladimir Guerrero Jr's Bowman Chrome Autograph Is A Bargain

Baseball America and MLB Pipeline both released their top 100 prospect lists this week and ranked Vladimir Guerrero Jr in their top 5. After reading various articles and scouting reports, there is a consensus within the baseball community that Vlad Jr possess an 80 grade hit tool and 70 grade power. Tools at this level translate to a high batting average with the ability to hit 30 or more home runs annually. Jim Callis from MLB pipeline even compared him to Miguel Cabrera which immediately put me on high alert. The only reason why he is not the number one prospect is because he does not possess multiple tools like Ronald Acuna or Shohei Ohtani. His 2016 Bowman Chrome Autograph prices are around $250-$300 for base and $400 for a refractor. If you have the means I would consider buying a graded version of this card. I strongly believe the returns will be off the charts. Remember you only need one.

  1. How much do you believe Gleyber Torres 1st bowman chrome auto will be worth? I have the base auto and it sells for an average price of $300

    1. Thanks again for commenting. I really appreciate it. Let's take a look back. Torres card prices have been in a strong holding pattern since he injured his elbow. He is expected to return this season and I expect him to be brought along slowly in AAA. Overall I think the price has a strong chance to go up. It may take a little while to shake the rust off but he is a special talent with 20/20 potential.

  2. Hey your site is legit! Followed most of your strong buys for 17 draft. Hey will you be posting a breakdown on 18 bowman prior to release?

  3. Hello Mark. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated. I will be posting a full breakdown before and after the release of 2018 Bowman. The review released before will just talk about the players and not prices. I always wait about a month to talk about costs because it takes time for all the cases to be ripped.

  4. Don’t forget this kid is only 18 yet had more BB’s than K’s last year... advanced approach, with talent can go a long way.

  5. Has great tools, with advanced approach (more B.B. than K’s) can’t complain! Very young too! I’m excited to see what he can do.

    1. Hello Eli. Thanks for the comment. The strikeout to walk ratio is the main stat that gets me excited. He is just like his dad but with plate discipline!

  6. What do you think about his base first chromes? Going for about $10 raw right now, are these a buy and hold or sell?

    1. For a high end prospect, buying non auto chrome is a great way to invest. I think his prices are going to go up as the season gets close. He is that good of a hitter.

    1. I always think investing in non auto color is a great alternative. Don't forget about rookie cards as well.

  8. Love Guerrero Jr as well. I bought (5) Refractor Auto's for $110ea last year and sold way too early! I got about $350ea out of the 9.5's.

Looks like I can buy Robles Base Chrome Auto's for $100ea and Guerrero's are going for $300 (ish). My question is would you buy 3 Robles or 1 Guerrero if you had $300 to spend?! Thanks! Love the site BTW.

    1. Thanks for the comment Nick. I’m glad you like the site. Don’t beat yourself up too much if you made a profit. It happens. Your question is interesting. I’m big on Vlad Jr but buying Robles is not a bad option either. I prefer Vlad cause of his hitting ability.

    1. Thanks Anonymous. I knew prices would climb but not to the levels I have seen. But when the hype takes over the sky is the limit.
