Scouting Report:

Grades: Fastball: 60. Curve: 70. Changeup: 70. Control: 60.

Julio Urias is a freakish 18 year old with a plus fastball, a plus-plus curve and changeup, and plus control.  There's a reason the Dodgers refused to even talk about trading him at the Winter Meetings.

Urias' fastball has good life and sits at around 93-94 mph and he can reach back for some extra gas and get it up to 95-96 mph.  He tends to maintain this velocity throughout his outings which is a good sign of strength.  His curve has heavy late break and sits at around 80 mph, and due to his learning to command it properly is his least used pitch.  His changeup also has late break and drops off the table.  It sits in the low 80s and for a youngster, his consistent arm angle and action between his fastball and changeup is impressive.  Urias also features a secondary breaking ball, which is a slider, but it has no vertical movement and its sweeping nature might not hold up at the higher levels.

Basically, the stuff and command are enough for the kid to develop into a front of the rotation starter in only a few years.
